12 in 2024 Gaming Challenge

Attempting to play 1 new game, or short adventure that has been sitting on my shelf (physical or digital) for far too long.

Below is a list of potential candidates and links to resources.  I plan to add some notes after playing them.

Current stage of planning :  I have 2 short system RPGs I want to try to play first, these are probably better characterized as collaborative story telling activities than true RPG "games".  Probably a 2-3 hour session depending on how fun it is and what win condition we set for ourselves.

March

Like A Rogue is my target for March, might change up the rules for success and damage a bit.  You play as Rogue Linguists using letters and words to explore dungeons.

March or April

Second one on the list is One Minute to Midnight about robots on a planet abandoned by humans and how they deal with situation as their power goes to zero and they stop forever.  A little dark but sounds interesting and I have some ideas for a more upbeat second play through but would love to try it once as written.

One Minute to Midnight

Two full systems that will take more than 1 session

April and May - 2 Mothership 1 shots

Mothership: A survival horror RPG that I have 2 one shots for that I think look really fun and deadly.

GI Joe: Character creation looks a bit involved but I would love to get into playing this.

Would love to do this around 4th of July so character creation in June and a 1 shot in July

Paranoia - another full system but lower on my list, a  somewhat competitive RPG set in the future

The End of The World - another full system, haven't looked at the mechanics yet but some cool scenarios about ways the world can end, aliens, robots, and various apocalypses, I bought the robots one but could take a poll if the others are of more interest.

I have a physical D&D Rick and Morty box set I need to play but not sure how many sessions that might encompass yet I don't want to pick anything too big.

There is also another new big system by Matt Colville and his company MCDM that just funded like 4 million dollars on Kickstarter that would probably be on the list as well but it's not released yet but I assume will be available in some form of playtest by the end of the year and I think will be fun to play and would probably need 2 sessions at least.

Thousand Year Old Vampire isn't really a game.  It is a solo journaling "game" where you play as a now inhuman long-lived monster  surviving in the world as your original  human memories slip away.  Dice provide some random outcomes and the goal is to survive 1000 years and make an interesting story along the way.

It's a solo game but but something I want to do this year and would be happy to do it along with someone or just share the PDF.

Dread is a no dice game that uses a Jenga tower when you need to see if you succeed and obviously it will eventually end in failure.  Not super interest in it but could be something to try.

Ten Candles - another guaranteed failure game, interesting candle and dice pool count down mechanics.
